Questions, answered
I've never done Pilates — can I start here?
Absolutely, and many of our clients do. We recommend beginning with a 'New Client' package — three group classes, or three 1:1 sessions — so you can explore the options before committing to a block. You do not need to be flexible, strong or coordinated to start; it's by attending that you become so.
How many people are in a class?
Our group classes never exceed six clients, and several are capped at just four. That keeps the attention on your movement and lets your teacher adjust technique in the moment.
What's the difference between mat Pilates and equipment Pilates?
Mat Pilates is carried out on a mat using your own body as resistance — small, friendly classes of no more than six. Equipment Pilates uses studio machines with springs for resistance, to help you connect and build strength. Equipment features in our 1:1s, duets and group Tower classes.
I have an injury or ongoing concern — can I still join in?
Please get in touch before booking so we can advise you properly. If you're rehabilitating from an injury we'd always recommend starting one-to-one with our expertly trained teachers, who can work gently and progressively — often alongside your physio or specialist.
Will I be the only one in the studio for a 1:1?
Not necessarily — there may be another 1:1 happening at the same time — but you'll have the undivided attention of your teacher throughout to keep you focused.
I'm pregnant or have just had a baby — can I join a class?
We don't run specific pregnancy or post-natal group classes, so we'd recommend booking a 1:1 with one of our expertly trained teachers. Please wait until you have your doctor's approval to exercise after birth (minimum six weeks after a natural birth, twelve weeks after a caesarean).
Am I too old for Pilates?
Absolutely not — Pilates is suitable for all ages and abilities. Our Slow & Steady class is specially adapted for those with good foundations who are managing ongoing physical concerns, at a slower, more considered pace.
What should I wear and bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in — leggings and a t-shirt are ideal. Please avoid anything with zips, as these damage the equipment. You may like to bring a hand towel and a bottle of water.
Is there parking, and are there changing facilities?
Yes — there's ample parking within the fenced premises, plus overflow parking outside. We don't have changing rooms at the studio, but there is a toilet on site.
How do I book, and can I pay on the day?
All sessions are pre-booked and paid for in advance, online or through our app — we can't take drop-in payment at the door. If you can't see the class or time you're after, email hello@pilatesfromwithin.com and we'll do our best to help.
Do you charge for cancellations?
We operate a 24-hour cancellation policy. Any session cancelled or rescheduled with less than 24 hours' notice, and any no-show, is charged in full.
